The Day I Met Dolly

One day when I was really young (I forget how old exactly) I found an old cassette of my Mum’s by a lady called Dolly Parton. I remember listening to it out of curiosity and instantly loving that country sound. I think I may have played that tape over and over and over again until it broke.

A few years back Dolly announced she was touring and I jumped at the chance to get tickets, as I never thought I would have the opportunity to see her sing live. I loved it and remember thinking how lucky I was to have been there. As it turns out she has been back a couple of times since then and up until this Tuesday I had seen her in concert four times.

On Tuesday after Dolly’s amazing ‘Blue Smoke‘ concert  I was very fortunate to meet some of the team who work for Dolly and I am forever grateful to them for arranging tickets for my Mum and I to go to the concert for a second time on Wednesday and to meet the lady herself.

Its hard to put into word’s but Dolly is my Idol. I love her music, her passion and her general attitude towards life. I think she has brought so many people so much happiness and positivity. I admire everything she has done in her career – from her music to her Imagination Library. I can’t think of anyone else who I would rather meet.

I still can’t believe this moment actually happened. What did I do to deserve one of my biggest dreams coming true? Lady luck was definately on my side this week and I am forever grateful.

This is one for my memory bank. 🙂 xxxx

  1. Thanks Natalie. Dolly is such a great writer and performer .. Often gets lost in all the talk about her image. Regards from Thom at the immortal jukebox (give it a spin).
