I recently became a chapter leader for the Travel Massive networking group in Edinburgh. After attending several of the events over the past two years it is an absolute honour to be invited into the team that makes it all happen!
The Travel Massive community connects all kinds of people interested in tourism and travel, including industry leaders, journalists, small businesses, bloggers and travellers. It is a great place to meet like-minded individuals to make connections and share ideas.
The Edinburgh chapter
The Edinburgh Chapter was founded by Katy Duncan in March 2015 and has since grown to 363 members with 6.3k connections. We are the second largest group in the UK after London – a great achievement. It is a testament to all the hard work put in by Katy and her fellow leaders, past (Julie Galante) and present (Lesley Judge). Plus the support of a truly engaged community.
Over the last 2 years there has been 10 events in Edinburgh, which have included some wonderful (and very generous) sponsors including The Royal Yacht Britannia, 80 Days, Principal Edinburgh (Formally The George Hotel), The Edinburgh School of Food and Wine, The Bonham Hotel, Festivals Edinburgh, G&V Royal Mile Hotel, Zomato UK, Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, Highland Explorer Tours and Falkirk Community Trust.
We have been lucky to experience some great hospitality with a few of the highlights including: a private tour of the Kelpies (Travel Massive Goes Exploring), drinks on the rooftop of The George Hotel, a behind the scenes tour of the festival city and a spectacular Christmas special at The Royal Yacht Britannia, which raised over £2700 for Bloodwise and Maggie’s Centre Edinburgh. Two charities close to our heart as they supported our fellow tourism colleague and friend Aileen Lamb through her cancer journey.
Super excited about our @travelmassive #Edinburgh #christmas event on board @royalyachtbritannia Tues 6 December. Photos from last year when we raised £1k for @bloodwise & Western General Hospital to support colleagues @aileenlamb1 & Scott & Julie @thisinternationallife. The #travel #hospitality & #arts communities have been exceptionally generous, we have amazing prizes & raffle tix only £5 – we're on course to exceed our target. Thanks to our generous sponsor/venue, our #travelmassive community & @aileenlamb1 @katyduncan82 @sunshine_suz @nallera for the ongoing fundraising. See you Tues! #events #fundraiser #standuptocancer
Chapter leader Katy has recently taken some time out to have her beautiful baby girl and so myself and Susan Russell have stepped in to help Lesley Judge work on this year’s events and we have some exciting sponsors involved so watch this space!

The next event is our 2nd birthday party at The Ghillie Dhu on Thursday 16th March. We shall enjoy drinks, cake and lots of travel chat – we hope to see you there 😊
